Here's your (not so) totally useless fact of the day:
Why do people clink their glasses before drinking a toast?
It used to be common for someone to try to kill an enemy by offering him a
poisoned drink. To prove to a guest that a drink was sa fe, it became customary
for a guest to pour a small amount of his drink into the glass of the host. Both
men would drink it simultaneously. When a guest trusted his host, he would
then just touch or clink the host's glass with his own.

Unfortunately, Brandy was not the winner of the True Results Lap Band contest,
but she remains positive. She wrote, "I just wanted to let everybody know that I
received an e-mail last night from True Results, and unfortunately, I did not win
the contest. I do have to say thank you to everybody! I know the reason I didn't
win wasn't because of lack of effort. You all are the greatest!"
