Hello Everyone,
Here's your (not so) totally useless fact of the day: Thanks Gary!
Gilligan of Gilligan's Island"s first name was Willy. It never was said on the series
but was in the Script submitted by Sherwood Schwartz for the pilot. Also the
Skipper was originally going to be "The Captain" but got changed to "Skipper" for
the pilot.The Professor as well as Ginger and Maryann were not in the pilot but
were originally a writer and 2 secretaries as the other 3.They were obviously
replaced by a Science teacher,country girl and T.V. Star.I hope you Gilligan Island
fans like that bit of Americana trivia.The other thing about the series was the T.V
execs did not want to worry about the audience coming in on the show and not
knowing what it was about.That is why Sherwood Schwartz wrote the opening song
as an exposition of what the show was all about.It was sung by the group "The
Wellingtons".
