Hello Everyone,
Here's your totally useless fact of the day:
During the Depression, "B" movies were coupled with "A" movies to
produce a double-billing at U.S. theaters. This was a desperate
effort of film studio heads to draw in budget-conscience audiences
with meager allowances for entertainment. By the 1940s, Columbia
Pictures and MGM had perfected the "B" flick to the point that it
was difficult to tell it from an "A" picture. "B" movies were
profitable, and Universal Pictures turned out an average of one
B-film each week. Most B-films took from 7 days to 3 weeks
(including Saturdays) to make. Scant time was spent on rehearsals
or costume fittings. Work was plentiful for actors in the 1940s
and 1950s, and appearing in ten or more B-films a year was not
unusual. Few got rich as A-film actors did, but acting in B-films
provided a comfortable and dependable living.

First, I must tell you I am a loyal fan of your newsletter; have

Secondly, must tell you that I have taken up the offer of free
Harlequen books many times and when they promise a free gift,
they truly come. I haven't done for a while and not online, but
used to do it because they would send me a packet in the mail.
The greatest gift I received was a wine glass and if you
continued with their program you received one wine glass with
each set of books. Of course, I belonged long enough to get a set
of 4; really nice glasses. Lately, they don't seem to offer as good
of gifts. Never had any trouble unsubscribing even if I did it right
after the initial free books and gift, although they don't send an
invoice or envelope so you have to make sure you have address, etc.
If they do send another shipment that you don't want, just refuse
it and you can send it back with no cost to you and that gets you
off the mailing also. Hope this helps.
