Hello Everyone,
Here's your totally useless fact of the day:
For the first time in more than 60 years and for the last time until
the year 2160, Irish Catholics face a dilemma: St. Patrick's Day this
year falls during Holy Week, the seven sacred days that lead up to
and include Easter Sunday.
In some parts of the country, the idea of mixing one of the most
solemn weeks on the Roman Catholic calendar with one of the biggest
party days of the year didn't seem right.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has told American dioceses that
no mass in honor of St. Patrick can be held on March 17 because of the
overlap with Holy Week, traditionally a time of prayer and fasting.
So some dioceses and cities will hold traditional St. Patrick's Day
events, including masses and parades, a couple days early on March 14
or March 15, the Friday and Saturday before Holy Week.
